What are Cannabinoids and how do they Work?

Cannabinoids are chemical compounds that act on the cannabinoid receptors found in the body of most animals, including humans.

Phytocannabinoids are members of this chemical group found in the hemp plant. Scientists have identified more than 100 phytocannabinoids; however, cannabidiol (CBD) remains one of the most extensively studied.

Our bodies create their own cannabinoids (known as endocannabinoids).

These chemicals, like CBD, act in what is known as the endocannabinoid system. Taking CBD can help to support the functions of the endocannabinoid system.

Hemp-based phytocannabinoids like CBD have even been shown to stimulate the body to ramp up its endocannabinoid system

Recap:

Cannabinoids = a class of chemical compounds that interact with the cannabinoid receptors in our bodies.

Phytocannabinoids = Cannabinoids naturally occurring in plants (notably hemp).

Endocannabinoids = Cannabinoids naturally produced in the body of most animals, including humans.
